Corn on the cob is the perfect summer dish.  Not only is this the peak season for fresh sweet corn but it is also the time when local farmers markets are open for business.  Sweet corn is one of the best summer vegetables because it is cheap, easy to prepare and tastes delicious!  It is a versatile vegetable that can be enjoyed on its own or as a side dish.  If you’re looking for the latest cooking tips and trends when it comes to sweet corn, look no further!  Bauman’s has all of the genius cooking techniques so your corn stays sweet, crunchy and full of flavor.

Cooking Techniques:
If you want to wow your taste buds with sweet corn, buy local and buy fresh.  Corn cooked to perfection starts with corn that is grown to perfection.  There are a number of cooking methods but the best technique for summer is grilling your corn.

The easiest method is simply placing corn with the husk onto hot coals.  This typically takes about 15 minutes to cook and is the easiest method.  The moisture in the husk naturally steams the corn for great results.  You can also wrap the corn in foil and grill for 15 minutes.  Shucking the corn may take extra time, but the results are worth it.  Another popular option is grilling corn on its own, shucked clean and placed directly over a hot fire.  This method only takes about 10 minutes and gives incredible flavor.

Incorporating Sweet Corn In Your Meal:
No one can deny the versatile capabilities of sweet corn.  It can easily stand on its own as a side dish or add dimension to any recipe.  A cookout or barbeque is an excellent place to serve fresh corn on the cob.  It is the perfect side to burgers, hotdogs and grilled chicken.  It also goes great as an ingredient in southwestern inspired salad, salsa, guacamole and even pasta dishes.
