June is the Peak Season for Strawberries

The benefits of eating fruits and vegetables are virtually endless, especially when it comes to strawberries.  Strawberries are sugary sweet, delicious, affordable, and bursting with health and beauty benefits.  You may be surprised just how great strawberries can be for your diet from cancer prevention to weight loss!  With June being the peak season for strawberries, stop by Bauman’s for some of the best plants and produce in New York!

In the meantime, check out the amazing health benefits and easy ways to incorporate strawberries into your diet:

Health Boosters:  Medical News Today reports that strawberries are rich in nutrients that can give a number of health benefits.  Bursting with antioxidants, Vitamin C, anthocyanin, kaempferol and more, studies show strawberries have the potential to reduce the risk of stoke, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and even allergies.  They also offer beauty benefits by improving wrinkles, hydrating hair and nails, and providing glowing skin.

Aid in Weight Loss:  Strawberries are one of the best fruits you can eat if you are trying to loose weight.  Their sugary sweet flavor is a great substitute for fatty foods you may be craving.  Next time you feel your sweet tooth acting up, opt for a bowl of strawberries and whipped cream instead of cake!

Eat Strawberries Daily:  Incorporating strawberries into your daily diet is easier than you may think.  Simply get creative when adding them to your breakfast, lunch and dinner!  Strawberries go great added to yogurt, blended in a smoothie, on top of waffles or thrown into cereal every morning.  Looking to pack your lunch or dinner with antioxidants?  Make a delicious spinach salad topped with chicken and strawberries.  When it’s time for dessert, slice strawberries onto some ice cream for a satisfying after-dinner snack.

Stop by our farm, located on Five Mile Line Road, and bring home some fresh strawberries today.  To learn more about what Bauman’s has to offer, visit us online at www.baumansfarmmarket.com.

Proven Winners Will Make Any Garden Bloom!

No matter where you live, a blooming flower garden is one of the most beautiful accessories you can have in your yard.  Flowers will immediately brighten any home’s landscape.  At Bauman’s Farm Market and Greenhouse, we know that an amazing garden begins with the right plants.  We offer a large selection of annuals and perennials from Proven Winners to help make your dream garden!

Proven Winners plants are unsurpassed in terms of flowering, growth habit, disease resistance, and garden performance.  At Bauman’s Farm Market, we are proud to offer a range of flowers.  With Spring weather on the way, take a look at some of the flowers that are sure to make your garden flourish!

Did you ever wonder why some plants grow every year on their own and why others need to be planted each spring?  The difference is whether the plant is an annual or a perennial:

Annuals grow for only one year and need to be replanted each Spring.  The growth cycle starts as a seed, then blooms, produces seeds and dies when it gets too cold out.  However, they are flowers with gorgeous color that last from Spring until Fall!  They are typically the flowers you see in flourishing gardens, hanging baskets and patio pots.   Some popular Proven Winners Annuals that you can find at Bauman’s are Supertunia (ranging in color from Bermuda Beach and Double Dark Blue to Vista Fuchsia and White Russian), Agyrathemum Butterfly, Lantana in a range of colors, Ipomea Illusion, Lobularia Snow Princess, Euphorbia Diamond Frost, Coleus ColorBlaze in a range of colors and more!

Perennials produce plants every spring.  They will bloom after winter weather has finished and Spring weather begins.  They typically do not need to be replanted each year but you may want to replace them every five years just in case.  They are typically a garden’s backbone because they are easy to take care of and dependable plants that come in a range of colors, textures, and forms!  Some popular Proven Winners Perennials that you can find at Bauman’s are Panicum Cheyenne Sky, Ageratem Artist, Heuchera Dolce in a range of colors, Ipomea Illusion and more!
